Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore Scarlet Crusade's first expedition to Northrend
(This topic is archived. Please do not edit this page!)

Well, we know the Scarlet Crusade sent an expedition to Northrend, before/during WoW. Some of its members can be seen at Hall of Champions at the Scarlet Monastery:

But, when did this expedition happen? We only know that they died before we entered Scarlet Monastery. Those 3 in particular seem to have pretty important charges.

Well, the problem appears with Ashbringer comic. They aren't mentioned there. We could speculate they sail off to Northrend before the formation of the Scarlet Crusade and they're considered heroes by it, but that has no sense since they are mentioned to be working with the Scarlet Crusade, and Baren Westwind wears the tabard of the Scarlet Crusade.

So, when do you think this expedition happened? Could it be placed after what happens at Ashbringer comic? After all, we don't know when are we supposed to enter Scarlet Monastery, or even if we enter.

The best solution would be a sequel for Ashbringer comic, introducing these characters and explaining what happened with the other Scarlet leaders, but we still can speculate about its nature or when did it happen.

The plaques doesn't say that they died, just that they went MIA on some expedition to Northrend.
According to what some of the plaques say, they went on the expedition when Dalaran was still intact (Invar One-Arm#Plaque), and when Stromgarde still prospered (Orman of Stromgarde#Plaque). I could of course be wrong with the last statement, but that's at least what I think. --g0urra[T҂C] 10:51, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Well, dead or not, they didn't return. Anyway, being citizens of those places doesn't mean those places were still intact, imo.--Lon-ami (talk) 11:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
The Ashbringer comic retcons quite a bit. Those little retcons that clarify things that are never stated, and that make scattered details no longer fit together (Rise of the Horde). Blizz is also bad with timelines. In the comic, Alexandros Mograine was never part of the Crusade, yet in WoW everyone says he was. This can be explained by crazyness and altering their own history, but in Naxx he wore a Scarlet Crusade uniform. Baren Westwind wearing the tabard shows he was around when Saidan Dathrohan took power, or he as Mal'Ganis put one on to join Abbendis. Barean Westwind was also lost off a coast that existed in WC3 but not WoW. At least Invar was not forgotten. They could be called citizens even if their kingdoms were ruined. Now, comic or not, taking Old Hillsbrad into account, the Fleet could have attacked Northrend anytime after the Ashbringer meeting, as Mograine knew about the first Northrend settlements being destroyed. The Fleet may or may not have worn the tabard of the Scarlet Crusade at the time that they went. I do not have an anwser for their lack of mention in the comic.--SWM2448 18:08, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
The expedition could have been postponed in the time. They could have gone later, after the events of the comic. After all, there's still time before the other expedition go, too. About Mograine and Fairbanks being considered Scarlet Crusaders, the only explanation is that the Crusade revered them, which would also make sense for other non-humans heroes. Also, I don't remember Alexandros wearing any tabard at Naxxramas :S.--Lon-ami (talk) 19:55, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
