Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore Dark hands behind Malygos
(This topic is archived. Please do not edit this page!)

Why, why the Aspect of Magic, why is he doing this all? Well, it could be explained, yeah. He wants to fix all the lack of work during this late 10000 years.

Why, then, do I say there's something wrong with this? Because, since the beginning, he played hostile to the other dragonflights. I find it possible that he could want to kill mages and whatever, but, start the Nexus War without telling anything to anyone? And attack them at a sacred place?

WotLK has 4 storylines: -The Scourge and its activities. -The Old God Yogg-Saron and the Titans. -The Nexus War and Dalaran and the Wyrmrest Accord. -The conflict between Horde and Alliance.

An interesting point is that, in the fight with Yogg-Saron, we find 3 visions. With a first look, you'll just think they're random or just Old God related.

No.

They're related with the other 3 storylines:

-Garona killing Llane: The origin of the new conflict between Horde and Alliance. What? You tell me I'm wrong? Then, check the latests issues of the comic. Garona tries to kill Varian. Varian goes rage because of who attacks him. Mix that with our beloved pacifist Garrosh and there you have. A cocktail ready for explosion. So, that vision can be considered the main reason behind this new war. Without it, Angrathar wouldn't have had the same devastating effects.

-Arthas torturing the unknown prisoner: This has yet to be seen, since it seems a vision of the future or of the late present. But there's no need to say it's related with the Scourge and Arthas, nope?

-And the last one, The creation of the Demon Soul: The Demon Soul. Malygos' insanity's origin, after it destroyed nearly all his flight. The same Demon Soul used to create the Twilight dragonflight. A dragonflight created using, too, a blue dragon artifact and some nether dragons. The same nether dragons used to "cure" Malygos.

What's the point of this all? you'll think.

One thing I hate from this expansion is that some raids have no quest and no talk around. They're just mob towns for looting. One of those places is... the Obsidian Sanctum.

Do you know what's the race of those 3 drakes? yeah, Twilight. But, they were destroyed, nope?

Well, they're there.

This leads our attention somewhere far from Northrend. Grim Batol. Deathwing was last seen there, with some of those nice Twilight eggs.

We have no quests around the Obsidian Sanctum, so let's imagine a bit. It's dragon related, so we can put it into the Nexus War storyline. What a coincidence, the same storyline where Krasus, Rhonin and Vereesa take part.

The same guys that defeated those Twilight Dragons back at Night of the Dragon.

So, my bet is that Krasus, being there at Wyrmrest Temple, would be the one with the quest. Let's try to think as a dragon. The same dragon that suspected Deathwing had something to do with all that happened at NotD. Where did he see those twilights first? Grim Batol.

The plots grows. Was Malygos sane at all? The one we defeated, he could have been insane yet. Or he even could have been an impostor. I'd love to give him more development and characterization and don't kill him like that, but that's speculating so much.

So, what's the point of this topic?

Aside from Icecrown, there's no much more space around Northrend to place another good raid, and it's time to have something new in the old world.

Guess what. Grim Batol. Yeah, I'm not a genius. A pretty good amount of people believe this, too. But I bring possible proofs, and not just speculation.

Dargonax was awesome powerful. Do you imagine one of those other dragons in the same world as you?

What I believe is that we will have a new enemy as the big boss behind Malygos insanity and the Nexus War. Not Deathwing, at least, not directly. We don't even know if Sartharion is working with him, Nalice or Serinar. And that "father" the drakes mention could be anyone.

Also, what a coincidence, one of the worst enemies of Arthas at Northrend suddenly goes mad. That, ladies and gentlemen, smells bad. Pretty bad. To make things better, we have a good nice opening cinematic at WotLK. Guess who's that Sindragosa. And guess what she thinks about Malygos. Hate, anyone?

There you have. A good wall of text to speculate a bit about if the Nexus War... hasn't just begun.

You make a good point (and I like conspiracy theories). SOmehow I doubt we have seen the last of Malygos just because we "killed" him. There are still too many loose ends. INV Misc Orb 04Xavius, the Satyr Lord 20:04, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

As a conspiracy theory lover myself, I have to admit to have thought about all this Malygos thingie. I think it could be possible in my opinion that the Lich King had something to do with Malygos becoming insane. Why? Well, waht could be better than having Sindragosa and Saphiron resurrected as frostwyrms? Having the first and most powerful of their kind resurrected as a frostwyrm. Though it wouldn't make much sense to have another version of a boss in a new dungeon, is something Blizz has done before (Kael'thas, anyone?).

So my theory is that Arthas can control some dragons once they're resurrected, but for controlling an entire Dragonflight, he needs control over their leader (and the Lich King does want his own dragonflight, remember Scholomance?). And as a good villain, he doesn't do the job himself, unleashing the entire fury of the rest of the Dragonflights on him too soon, but makes some anonymous pawns kill the poor Malygos for him. After all, the "key" for the Eye of Eternity drops from Sapphiron in Naxx. Coincidence or intended? --Morgaur (talk) 20:50, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

I'm not too keen on the idea that the Lich King would raise Malygos as a frost wyrm. That would completely diminish Sindragosa's relative power, and one must remember that a lot of focus has been laid on her (intro, log-in, Sindragosa's Fall...). If the leader of the flight is reanimated, Sindragosa would just be another mook, albeit a more powerful one. INV Misc Orb 04Xavius, the Satyr Lord 21:40, 8 May 2009 (UTC)

Great idea, but i think Blizz needs to go to Uldum before Grim Batol, It will be very interesting though, once they do return to the last known hide out of Deathwing... Max Krist (talk) 08:28, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

The problem with Uldum is in adding another Titan-related dungeon raid in the same expansion pack, and Deathwing TBH deserves quite a bit more than just being the second bad guy of an expansion (essentially I mean him deserving an entire Expansion pack themed around him). I understand the problem you see in my theory, Xavius. Still, the Lich King could have led the players into killing Malygos not for ressurrecting him but just for getting a potentially very powerful enemy out of the picture, though. And about the powers behind the scenes, there are still lots of them that could have a great influence in WoW major characters such the Old Gods or Deathwing himself, not to mention the Burning Legion. It will be interesting to see how Blizzard makes the plot evolve from now on, especially after Ulduar (as long as they don't throw a bunch of space travelling races in their epic fantasy universe... again >_<) --Morgaur (talk) 11:16, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
Uldum is completely unrelated, man. There's no reason to visit it, aside from loot.
I think that Sindragosa is the most powerful frost wyrm. Even if Malygos was resurrected, Sindragosa would be better.
Let's check the before-WotLK enemies of Malygos:
-Sindragosa: She hates him. This is a fact.
-Arthas: He considers him a menace. Clearly, having an aspect that near isn't secure at all, and I doubt Malygos would even think about peace between Arthas and him.
-Deathwing: Well, our beloved black is the enemy of every other dragon, Malygos included.
-Old Gods: They're enemies of all the titan related races.
If someone is behind Malygos, it must be the Scourge or Deathwing. The Old Gods hate him, yeah, but have better problems to handle. The Scourge sees him as a potential menace. Deathwing just hates him, and could be behind, just for revenge fun.
If there's someone related, it must be Sindragosa or Deathwing. Sindragosa is under Arthas' rule, so no need of Arthas being directly involved.
Then, what could have happened with Malygos? Is he dead? Is he alive? If so, where's he? Free or captured? His body is nowhere to be seen. He could even exist yet, as a spirit or something like that. Who knows.
Deathwing doesn't need to be a boss in Grim Batol. I would prefer him not to, really. He deserves more than a patch. For Grim Batol, my plot would be that we infiltrate the place and find a factory of Twilight dragons, and we defeat them somehow. At least, those at Grim Batol. Who knows if there are more outside. So, we have Grim Batol as a raid, and then, probably, a small 5-man, which could be Dun Algaz fortress or an upper section of Grim Batol.
And Sindragosa is the key to involve the Scourge in this plot. He hates Malygos and Deathwing. Also, it would be cool to have an scene of her with Malygos.
We shall see, but I think NotD and OS are the key for the new content.
--Lon-ami (talk) 12:12, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Nah, i don't think Malygos is...was, corrupted. His plans were right: just look at what Kael'thas did, he lost a wyrm in the Sunwell and the Blue Flight lacks of wyrms. And, also, Kalec fell in depression... Immagine: You just regain yoursanity, your last memory is about mortals night elven that tries to destroy the world, summoning the Burning Legion; you open your eyes and you see the same catastrophe... He was not corrupted, and also corrupting an Aspect would take ages, even for a mind like the Malygos's one. Remember also that what Urom says, or what Malygos, upon his defeat, says ("the mortals will destroy e-everyting... my sister... what have you-). Malygos attacked the wyrmrest temple because the other dragons get into his path.Malygos Helper (talk) 11:31, October 4, 2009 (UTC)

What if the Lich King raises him (yes this would diminish Sindragosa, hear me out) and put him in Icecrown Citadel. What would happen would be that Sindragosa, seeing Malygos dead, her hate would vanish, as he had joined her in cold death. Then thye would work together, as a tag teaming boss of Icecrown, their might combined more powerful then just one of them alone. IconSmall Dwarf MalePaladinOkolorionTalk Contribs 02:40, October 5, 2009 (UTC)
Still, i doubt that, since Malygos fell into the Eye of Eternity, his corpse is held by Alextrasza or in somewhere in that magical dimension.Malygos Helper (talk) 10:38, October 5, 2009 (UTC)

All of this ofcourse ties quite nicely into my pan...everything consipracy theory which Blizzard keeps fanning. The Aspects are falling, one by one. Arthas has apparently lured us into the north with false weakness (i still am of the oppinion that it is Ner'zul's way of getting rid of Arthas...you dont 'Lure' people, as was the term used by blizzard, if you have no way of escape, it just does not sound like the Lich King's style, and i think Ner Zul is in on the greater consipiracy if not Arthas), Now Deathwing turns up...Its all connected i think...and there seems evidence enough to suggest that the end result of all of this shall somehow be the restoration of the Old Gods. Even the Legion's invasion apparently ties in somehow. I cant wait to see if the next patch legitimises all of this.

gadget (talk) 05:29, October 6, 2009 (UTC)

I built this theory prophesying Grim Batol could be the dungeon+raid of Patch 3.2. As you see, I linked everything.
But 3.2 was Argent Coliseum, and Grim Batol was left for Cataclysm, which fits better, imo.
So, we only have The Dragons of Outland and Mage to know more about Malygos. I'm really looking forward those 4 books, even if they arrive too late. The Nexus War was less than what it should have been, so those 4 books are perfect for telling the events before we arrive at Northrend, when the blue dragonflight is too weak.--Lon-ami (talk) 10:59, October 6, 2009 (UTC)
