Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore (PTR) New druid lore? An Injured Colleague/Tahu Sagewind

Can't believe there's nothing about this here either...

On the PTR, there's a Tauren called Sorn Proudmane standing near the Horde city portals in Dalaran, he gives this quest, which appears to be a simple "quest giver doesn't want to pay the mail cost": A Tauren soldier, Aponi Brightmane, was severely injured in a fight and was sent back home for recuperation, but forgot her shield at the front. Now you have to take it to her. In Thunder Bluff, however, you can find her at Elder Rise, as mentioned in the quest (and the new quest helper shows her location on the map) but you can't turn in the quest at her. Apparently bugged/unfinished, also indicated by the missing quest category, shown in the quest log as "Missing header! (quest designers)".
I didn't stay long, wanted to get down to Un'goro for the Venomhide quests (the first is annoying as hell) but I googled the quest later, just to check whether I had done anything wrong... I stumbled upon a thread at Scrolls of Lore.
As I didn't listen to the NPCs' conversation, I missed it, but after reading the above thread, I immediately returned to experience it myself. Tahu casts some spells during his lines, including something that looks like Eclipse, but with a golden hue... It might be just "flavor text", not necessarily aimed at those doing the quest even, but rather druids visiting their trainers (though most druids go to Moonglade for new skills/respeccing) or this indeed implies new aspects of druid lore coming up, with maybe even ingame effects, if only something like Tome of Dalaran Intellect for Moonfire, as a friend suggested. I don't think it's hinting at a new hero class, though. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 18:14, 28 June 2009 (UTC)

WoW.com (formerly WoW Insider) now reports about this, too. ~ Nathanyel (talk) 09:37, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Blood Elf Druids? Taurens Paladins? Horde Druids changing their magic field to Sun? Who would know!! I think this is totally possible, Let's wanna make some bets? Pudim17 (talk - contr) 14:26, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
expand the field, not change (as in switch) it Winky ~ Nathanyel (talk) 23:58, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
If I could roll a tauren paladin...I'd be tempted to delete a level-18 belf.  (Because...holy cow!)  And let's see draenei druids, while we're at it.

And I'd love to have a night elf shaman, undead druid, and other combinations that are impossible lore wise. </sarcasm> --g0urra[T҂C] 06:46, 4 July 2009 (UTC)
Considering some of the alleged leaks for the alleged next expansion—and some of the supposed new race/class combinations—I doubt they'd have any trouble making excuses.  And there's at least one Broken in the Cenarion Expedition, and Lost One druids elsewhere in Zangarmarsh, as it is.

Seems like a lot of reading into vague inferences to me. I've always been partial to Taurens. Anything that helps further develop their lore background is a good thing. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:09 PM PST 17 Aug 2009
Hence the words "alleged" and "supposed."  If those leaks are legit, most of the material actually sounds kind of bad—like Blizzard has just given up.  (I'll say "Warchief Squeal" and leave it at that.)  But some of the supposed new race/class combos sound like they could be interesting, if there was a decent explanation behind them.

After the whole BE paladin thing, my expectations for lore support of in-game stuff have been considerably lowered. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:20 AM PST 18 Aug 2009
Didn't Blizz provide an explanation for the Blood elf paladins? M'uru and whatnot? Please clarify what you're displeased with. Sarm3 (talk) 17:04, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
Not to get too off-topic, but providing an explanation is not the same as providing good lore. The lore for blood elf paladins seemed like it was an afterthought for "hey, the Horde needs paladins". The broken shaman backstory was much better for draenei. Also, M'uru was taken away from Silvermoon, but the blood elf paladins still have their powers because they gather remnants of holy energy. Weak. It totally diminishes the nature of the Light. You don't have to have devotion or discipline, you just gather holy energy. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 1:54 PM PST 26 Aug 2009
I agree.--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 01:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Uhm, no, that is incorrect, they gather those to learn resurrection, the Blood Elves were redeemed by the events surrounding M'uru and A'dal which also lead to the formation of the Shattered Sun Offensive. Revrant (talk) 01:26, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
Getting back to Sagewind, am I the only one who is wondering if Paladins and the light are what he's talking about? There's more discussion of Elune in that conversation than anything else, so could he be setting up Tauren priests being priests of Elune? Then again, since Tauren paladins might be called Sunwalkers, maybe we'll finally learn something about An'she...--Ragestorm (talk · contr) 01:06, 28 August 2009 (UTC)
