An extra-difficult mob or NPC to kill or quest to complete.
This generally denotes that the content is more difficult than should be usually expected for its level and most often requires a group of appropriately levelled players to overcome. Most elite content is very inefficient to solo.
Additional notes:
- Elite mobs or NPCs can be identified by the gold spiny dragon border around their portrait when selected. Mobs with silver borders are often only slightly harder to kill than the other mobs of their type, and are sometimes called "named" or rare mobs.
- Elite quests will have "Elite" in parentheses to the right of the quest name in the Quest Log.
- Elite monsters (mobs) can have improved health, damage or additional abilities and spells.
- Elite mobs will give more experience and loot than similar non-elite mobs.
- Completing elite quests yields rewards that generally reflect the added investment and time required. Elite quests tend to have better items or money.
