Overview

Ability Parry

In the rough and tumble of swordplay, it really is the quick and the dead. Warriors and Rogues are taught how to parry from early on in their training, but it does not come naturally to all of them. Some are just a lot faster than others, and always seem to have their weapon in exactly the wrong place, at the right time...

Sometimes the extra strike deflected can prevent the killing blow.

Functionality

Deflection increases your Parry chance.

It is a passive Arms talent, and is always active.

Prequisites: None

Rank Effect

Notes

The Defensive equivalent of Spell nature focusedmind [Cruelty], full training in Deflection will cause one extra hit to be parried in every twenty enemy attacks.

A very useful all-rounder that will help any Warrior in any role, and an excellent way to progress further into the Arms tree. It also has an indirect effect on Ability warrior revenge [Revenge], making it light up a little more frequently.

Deflection is also a paladin talent, a rogue talent, and a hunter talent, all with the same statistics listed above. Usefulness of this talent for these three classes can be highly varied depending on spec and preferred play style; this talent is highly useful for any who plan to PvP, in addition to:

  • Protection spec Paladins who plan on tanking a lot
  • Any rogue that tends to pull aggro frequently
  • Hunters who prefer to solo or 5-man, to 'off-tank' temporarily until a trap cooldown runs out, or to be able to handle a mob a little longer when pulling a mob off a caster until the tank or pet can pick it up; often used in combination with Ability whirlwind [Deterrence]
