Daily quest

For Burning Crusade dailies, see Burning Crusade daily quests.

Daily quests (popularly nicknamed dailies) are repeatable quests that can be acquired and completed once per day. These quests have significantly better rewards than other repeatable quests. Daily quests come in many different flavors, and many are for reputation, instances, professions, and battlegrounds.

The daily quest lists below include ongoing and new quests designated for level 80 players and players leveling in Northrend.

Restrictions

You may complete up to 25 daily quests per day per character. The exact reset hour depends on the realm, but it never changes, is chosen to be in the early AM, and will not coincide with the instance reset. You can double-check by mousing over the daily quests completed out of 25 in the upper-right corner of your quest log.

Often, a quest chain needs to be completed first to unlock the quest.

Dungeon daily quests

There are two daily instance quests—one heroic and one normal—which randomly rotate to a different dungeon each day. It is possible to complete a normal mode daily while doing a heroic mode dungeon, for example completing  [80D] Timear Foresees Centrifuge Constructs in Your Future! while doing Oculus in heroic mode.

Normal dailies

Archmage Timear begins and ends the following Northrend daily dungeon quests. Completing all four quests is the requirement for  Timear Foresees.

Archmage Timear is a human located outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran.

Prior to patch 3.3.0, he and Archmage Lan'dalock gave random daily quests for level 80 dungeons. In Legion, he became a quest giver once more, this time handing out special quests for their respective Bonus Events. Those quests were subsequently removed with the conclusion of the Legion expansion.

Archmage Lan'dalock is a high elf quest giver located at the Violet Hold (outside of the actual instance) in Dalaran. He offers the weekly raid quests to players. Prior to patch 3.3.0, he and Archmage Timear gave random daily quests for dungeons. See Daily quest for the quests he once offered.

Cataclysm

This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

During the assault on the Firelands, Archmage Lan'dalock can be found in Mount Hyjal assisting the player in fighting elites in the daily quest,  [35 Daily] The Protectors of Hyjal.

The Purge of Dalaran

This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

During the Purge of Dalaran, Lan'dalock and two Silver Covenant enforcers guarded the entrance to the Violet Hold, where the captured or surrendered Sunreavers were being held. It is possible for Horde heroes to be banished to the hold's entrance by Jaina Proudmoore during Grand Magister Rommath's assault on the city, in which case players will fight and kill Lan'dalock to secure their escape. During the battle, Lan'dalock will summon illusions of the various bosses he once tasked players with defeating during the Wrath of the Lich King era.

Rise of the Thunder King

This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

Archmage Lan'dalock makes an appearance on the Isle of Thunder, making his optional death during the Purge of Dalaran non-canon. He is tasked to dismantle the presence of the Zandalari trolls at Za'Tual.

At Violet Citadel.

Legion

This section concerns content related to Legion.

It is revealed that Lan'dalock had a liaison with Matron Mother Malevolence before he joined the Kirin Tor. The Illidari use this to their advantage and secure his help in breaking into the Black Temple.

Archmage Lan'dalock gives out [Seal of Broken Fate] for [Order Resources], Marks of Honor, or gold.

Spells and abilities

•  Chilled — If an enemy strikes the caster, they may have their movement slowed by 30% and the time between their attacks increased by 20% for 5 sec. Only one type of Armor spell can be active on the Mage at any time.
•  Frost Armor — Encases the caster in a layer of frost that lasts 30 min. The thick ice increases armor, slows melee attackers' movement, and increases the time between their attacks. (10 cooldown)
•  Frost Nova — Inflicts Frost damage to nearby enemies, immobilizing them for up to 4 sec. 2 sec cast.
•  Frostbolt 40 yd range — Inflicts Frost damage to an enemy and reduces its movement speed for 4 sec. 3 sec cast.
•  Frostfire Bolt 40 yd range — Launches a bolt of frostfire at the enemy, causing 266 to 305 Frost-Fire damage, slowing movement speed by 40% and causing an additional 66 Fire damage over 9 sec. If the target is more vulnerable to Frost damage, this spell will cause Frost instead of Fire damage. 3 sec cast.
•  Ice Lance 35 yd range — Deals Frost damage to an enemy target. Causes double damage against Frozen targets. Instant.
•  Summon Images — Summons illusions of the bosses. 3 sec cast.

Notes and trivia

• Lan'dalock has several apprentices.
• During the Burning Crusade beta, there was a hostile blood elf mob named Bloodseer Lan'dalock in Hellfire Peninsula. It was removed before the expansion went live, and its ID was reused for Archmage Lan'dalock in Wrath of the Lich King.
• His name may be a pun on "landlocked," which may be less of a stretch if you consider that he and Archmage Timear were the first quest giver NPCs to be given collision boundaries.
• When engaged by members of the Horde during the Purge of Dalaran, he summons various images of Wrath of the Lich King bosses, such as:

Keep a previous Normal daily in your quest log.

If the Heroic daily is Oculus, CoT: Strat, HoL or UP, check your quest log.

If the Heroic and Normal daily do not overlap, abandon the Normal and get a new one.

This should average out to ~3.85% chance of overlap as of patch 3.2.2

Note that only one of the Barking quests can be done each day. (For example, you cannot bark for both the Thunderbrews and the Barleybrews in the same day.) In addition, the repeatable version of There and Back Again is not technically a quest (and thus does not count against the 25 daily quests per day limit), and has a twelve-hour reset time as opposed to the 4 AM reset time of the other dailies.

Daily cooking quests are handed out by  Katherine Lee (Alliance) and  Awilo Lon'gomba (Horde) in Dalaran. The quests are random each day but will be the same for everyone on their server.

•  [65] Infused Mushroom Meatloaf
•  [65] Mustard Dogs!

Each quest rewards +150 Kirin Tor reputation, 9 93, a [Dalaran Cooking Award] (Mustard Dogs! rewards 2) and a [Small Spice Bag].

Fishing

Daily fishing quests are handed out by Marcia Chase in Dalaran. The quests are random each day but will be the same for everyone on their server.

•  [80] The Ghostfish (Sholizar Basin)
•  [80] Jewel of the Sewers (Underbelly)
•  [80] Dangerously Delicious (Wintergrasp)
•  [80] Monsterbelly Appetite (The Frozen Sea)
•  [80] Blood is Thicker (Borean Tundra)

The reward for these quests is a [Bag of Fishing Treasures].

Jewelcrafting

Daily Jewelcrafting quests are offered in Dalaran by Timothy Jones. Rewards are tokens to buy higher level recipes.
