Seal of Truth is a Paladin seal obtained at level 44 for 1g 95s. It is nicknamed "Seal of DoT", as its purpose is to apply and maintain a damage over time stack. It is thus suitable for long sustained fights, such as boss encounters.

Functionality

While activated, the Paladin's melee swings apply a debuff on the target called Censure. This debuff causes holy damage every 3 seconds for 15 seconds. The DoT stacks up to 5 times, with subsequent swings granting a damage bonus of direct holy damage and continuing to refresh the stack's duration. Furthermore, for every stack of Censure on the target, Judgement's damage is increased by 10% (up to 50%).

Note that only normal melee swings can apply the debuff. Attacks like Ability paladin divinestorm [Divine Storm], Spell holy crusaderstrike [Crusader Strike], and Ability paladin hammeroftherighteous [Hammer of the Righteous] will not apply or refresh Censure, though they do gain the direct holy damage bonus if Censure has 5 stacks.

The application of an additional stack of Censure (or the refreshing of the Censure stack) on the target is resolved as its own melee attack, separate from the normal melee swing that caused it. Even if the normal melee swing connects, Censure can still miss, be dodged, be parried, or be blocked.

Seal of Truth is considered the primary seal for tankadins. This is because the DoT causes a constant threat-generation which keeps mobs stuck to the tank, preventing them from attacking more fragile players in the group/raid. This is an important feature in situations where various effects may temporarily put the tank out of action (such as a stun), create distance between the mobs and the tank, or even wipe all aggro. The DoT will keep on ticking whatever happens, generating threat without the tank having to do anything (until the debuff expires).
