Within the Chamber of Ten Thousand Legs, the nerubians have called many hundreds of giant spiders. Only those who endure every horror can claim the rewards of the Trial of Eight Legs. The trial is begun by speaking with the Arach'layn warrior Zephon the Venomous.

The Trial of Eight Legs is a Heroic Mode only challenge.

The Spider Trio

Hadronox's Abilities

•  Acid Cloud  —  Creates a cloud of corrosive venom that deals nature damage to anyone standing in it. Also reduces the armor of those affected.

•  Web Tether —  Grabs all nearby enemies and pulls them to Hadronox's position.

Maexxna's Abilities

•  Blinding Webs  —  Maexxna spins a wave of thick webbing, causing anyone struck by it to wander around blindly. Can be avoided by facing away from Maexxna.

•  Cocoon  —  Wraps a random target in a cocoon of webbing. The target is unable to act and must be cut loose.

•  Spider Swarm  —  Releases swarms of small spiders that will move and attack random targets with physical strikes.

•  Cone of Poison  —  Maexxna sprays everything in front of her with poison, dealing a burst of nature damage.

•  Enrage —  Maexxna flies into a killing rage, increasing her speed and attack power. Cast at 30% health.

Visoraxx's Abilities

Visoraxx spawns with 20 Cocooned Victims that can be targeted and destroyed. Destroyed cocoons spawn living enemy adds. At 25% health, Visoraxx will gain a stacking buff called Ravenous Hunger that increases his damage by a huge amount. Visoraxx will begin feasting on every cocoon that remains, restoring his health by 5% per cocoon. The cocoons will be destroyed by this and each destroyed cocoon will spawn a Withered Web Mummy. Every cocoon destroyed in this manner will remove a stack of Ravenous Hunger. The key to the encounter is destroying enough cocoons that players are not overwhelmed by Withered Web Mummies, but leaving enough so that Visoraxx' Ravenous Hunger is reduced to a manageable amount.

•  Poison Cobweb  —  Sprays poisonous webs in a cone, poisoning and slowing anyone afflicted by them.

•  Poison Thread —  Roots a random target to the spot with poisonous webbing, dealing them poison damage over time and restricting their movement.

•  Ravenous Hunger  —  Boosts Visoraxx's attack power by a great deal. Feasting on cocooned victims will reduce the number of stacks. Stacks to 20. Each victim consumed by Visoraxx will reduce the amount of stacks by 1.

•  Feast  —  Drains health from cocooned victims. Every cocoon will restore 5% health and remove a stack of Ravenous Hunger.

Strategy

The trial consists of eight waves in total.

• 1 - Low number of elite mobs, low number of non-elites
• 2 - Low number of elite mobs, moderate number of non-elites
• 3 - Hadronox
• 4 - Moderate number of elite mobs, moderate number of non-elites
• 5 - Moderate number of elite mobs, high number of non-elites
• 6 - Maexxna
• 7 - High number of elite mobs, moderate number of non-elites
• 8 - Visoraxx, Spawn of Ynnilith

Players will only be able to advance through the gauntlet by defeating a boss in a certain number of tries. For example, if players wipe 6 times before defeating Hadronox, they will forfeit the entire event. Defeating a boss allows for the event to continue and resets the number of tries. Hadronox and Maexxna award points on the first defeat, but no additional points on subsequent defeats. Defeating the entire event with few or no wipes will award better loot.

• 8+ wipes - Standard loot drop
• 4-7 wipes - Standard loot drop + 1
• 1-3 wipes - Standard loot drop + 2
• No wipes - Standard loot drop + 2 + Riding Spider Mount

Achievement

• Trial of Eight Legs - Overcome the Trial of Eight Legs.
• Down Comes the Rain - Defeat Visoraxx without restarting the Trial of Eight Legs.

Quotes

Zephon the Venomous acts to begin the trial. He will spawn a treasure chest and teleport away when the trial is complete.
