In the dialogue explaining how the Val'kyr join the Horde, it is mentioned that intelligent Scourge were jobless and were seeking "reemployment". My idea of intelligent undead includes the Val'kyr, Liches, Darkfallen, Death Knights, and some Nerubians. So my question is if any more Scourge than just the Val'kyr are confirmed (or rumored) to be joining the Forsaken ranks now, whether they are mindless or the above mentioned intelligent?AhotahThunderhorn (talk) 12:24, August 5, 2010 (UTC)

Don't know yet, since Northrend is stuck in the past we may not see it happen... I can understand at least bring in the Val'kyr, since they can raise the dead and help repopulate the Forsaken, but any other Scourge members would probably just be a cosmetic addition. Its such a delicious turn of events, having Sylvanas become the very thing she hated, I love it! As for the rest, I'd imagine any Deathknights who were interested in some sort of belonging or normal life would join the Ebon Blade, or otherwise go solo. Liches and Darkfallen I think would be above seeking a new "master" I really think they are the type who, while gratefull for their new found power, would evantually have sought to be free of the Lich King anyway. As for the Nerubians, I really don't know, we know so little about them before they were assaulted by the Scourge, so I'm not sure if the ones who weren't turned would be willing to welcome their former brothers and sisters back into Azjol'Nerub...  Max Krist (talk contribs) 06:42, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

While I am ultimately unsure of what will happen to what remains of the Scourge (The Battle of Andorhal at least shows they seem to holding out before being swept aside), I must point out what it means when the Val'kyr resurrect the Forsaken's enemies to replace in their ranks. The Forsaken is essentially becoming a new Scourge, and if what I've seen from the beta is any indication, Sylvanas is on her way to becoming the new Lich Queen.AhotahThunderhorn (talk) 15:11, August 6, 2010 (UTC)

I'm not entirely comfortable making conclusions about what we know of Cataclysm, partly because I'm somewhat insulating myself from it, and partly because we don't yet know the full story. However, in doing my research for the Forsaken article, I came across a from the Forsaken Culture section of the Horde Player's Guide that I think is very relevant to this discussion:

Perhaps the greatest element of Forsaken culture, and their culture’s only universal element, is their reverence of death. Every Forsaken respects the dead, and damns those who do not. General society coddles new Forsaken like children, while venerating those who are losing themselves to the Scourge, giving them the greatest comforts before they are put out of their misery. Forsaken treat each other with a measure of respect, as it takes a strong soul to rise, and a stronger soul to not fall to mindless undeath (more on this later). Arthas earns their greatest ire, as the Lich King shows no respect for the living or dead. While Forsaken create undead, they do so with respect to the souls and bodies they use. Life and death is a balance. The Lich King, however, enslaves the dead, sripping their free will. His path is an abomination to the Forsaken.

While it's not depicted in WoW (which leads me to believe it's been quietly retconned out), Forsaken raising the dead isn't something new. I think the real distinction is whether or not Sylvanas is enslaving these new Forsaken or not. If she is, then unless this cultural description is ignored, the Forsaken themselves would probably revolt against it. I actually have a fan fiction story and an in-game rp character depicting the same revolt that I hope someday blizzard might pay attention to.
