Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore Guys... I think I found something.

I was checking out the Sons of the Storm webpage to look at Samwises artwork. Then I stumbled upon this: [[1]]... which made me wonder what could that name mean. While I was looking at some more art I found this: [[2]]... and MINDBLOWINGLY THIS: [[3]]!

My thought is that Mistgard is the name of the Pandaren capital city and if you link the year it is made and the Cataclysm expansion, the Pandaren might be implemented ingame in the next expansion.

Well the artworks are located under "Personal Art" so i don't think it's considered a part of the WarCraft Universe, although things may change, and one day, when blizzard adds Pandaria to the world, they may be changed to official warcraft artwork. - Aedror (talk) 18:55, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
Not quite sure who said it, but I read a blue post about next expansion taking place on new continent. Hopefully it will be Pandaria. Neutralion (talk) 19:24, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

This is all personal art. If you actually check Samwise's stuff, the personal art of panda people are called the Pandyr. The third image linked of the one on the throne is titled "Hall of the Pandyr" which might hint at this personal panda stuff being a mix of Chinese and Norse myth, especially since the first image is named "Mistgard", an obvious nod to Asgard, the home of Valhalla. This would be separate from the WarCraft universe. No doubt that it might serve to further inspire Pandaren lore, but I wouldn't bet on him making his Pandyr into the Pandaren of WoW. The Sons of the Storm may be chief Blizzard artists, but that doesn't mean all their art has to do with Blizzard's franchises. For the most part, this group is separate from Blizz. Meaning if it's not located under "WarCraft", it's a good bet it won't be going in WoW. Samwise Didier has a love for Pandas. So don't take every panda painting as Pandaren.
