Location Southern Eastern Kingdoms

The continent of Azeroth[1][2] is one of the three continents[3][4][5][6] that form the Eastern Kingdoms,[7] lying to the south of Khaz Modan.[8]

Though Azeroth was held for some time by the Horde during the Second War, it was mostly freed by the Alliance.[9] It contains both the region of Stormwind and Stormwind City[10] (capital of the region[11]), as well as the several surrounding territories.

Notes and trivia[]

  • Fizzle Brassbolts refers to the Badlands as being in Azeroth, although technically, it should be in Khaz Modan.[12]
  • The continents of Azeroth, Khaz Modan, and Lordaeron — as part of the larger Eastern Kingdoms continent — would technically be referred to as subcontinents in real world geographical/geological terminology. But the term isn't used in any published Warcraft source.
  • The Stormreaver clan section in the Warcraft II: Tides of Darkness manual says: "Domain: Stormwind, Azeroth and Balor, Azeroth".[13] This may get a bit confusing, but it tells that the Stormreaver have control over the domain of Stormwind from the continent of Azeroth, and Balor of the same continent of Azeroth.
  • It is also called "continent of Stormwind" in the non-canon Warcraft RPG.[14]
