Auto Shot

Auto Shot is a basic ranged-attack ability that allows a Hunter to fire their weapon (bow or gun) automatically until cancelled.

Functionality

Uses

• There are excellent, good and bad times to use this ability. An example of an excellent time would be after you've lit the mob up with your DoT rounds, possibly Concussive Shot, and as many Arcane Shots as you like. The mob should either be dead or very close to dying. At that point, the Hunter doesn't care if he gets aggro or not, he just hits Auto Shot and let's his weapon blast away until the mob is dead or until it closes within ranged-weapon radius (this is currently limited in the gamescape to 35 yards, regardless of ranged-weapon type used, bow or gun).

• A good time to use Auto Shot would be if there are no other mobs around to worry one about adds. The Hunter can fire off their favorite arsenal of Stings, Snares, Roots, et cetera, and then hit Auto Shot. At that point, the Hunter doesn't care whether or not they have to melee a little as the mob is low on HP and won't last long.

• A bad time, in my experience, to use Auto Shot is if there are possible adds in the immediate vicinity, or if there is a lot of spawning activity going on. At those times, it's best to use your weapon in a single-shot fashion to pull the mob away from the others, or away from a potential spawn location. Once the coast is clear again, send in the pet and rinse and repeat one's favorite play-style.

Limitations

• Very short range in actuality. 8 yard minimum, 30 max (38 with Hawk Eye talent)
• Can it be set not to activate? Mine activates as soon as I use any ranged ability and has to be manually stopped.
