Lucifron is one of the four flamewaker captains of Ragnaros, and the first boss of Molten Core.
+
The Darkmoon Faire is a large gathering of activities on the southern area of Darkmoon Island, brought together by Silas Darkmoon. The faire opens up on the first Sunday of the month and lasts for one week.

  +
Prior to Patch 4.3.0, the Darkmoon Faire could be found at one of three locations: Outside Goldshire in Elwynn Forest, outside Thunder Bluff in Mulgore, and on the outskirts of Shattrath City in Outland's Terokkar Forest.
Background
Among the ranks of the flamewakers, overseers and their guards constantly jockey for higher status among the hierarchy of elementals in hopes of gaining favor with Ragnaros. Lucifron is no exception. He has clashed with Gehennas on several occasions, particularly during their incarceration within the Elemental Plane. This rivalry has now extended to the Molten Core where Lucifron quietly waits for his opportunity to capitalize on any weakness shown by the other flamewakers.

  +
Attendees can perform profession-specific quests which reward Darkmoon Game Tokens and Darkmoon Prize Tickets. Game tokens can also be purchased using gold from vendors scattered throughout the faire. Completing quests associated with each sideshow game grants more tickets. Tickets can be used to purchase pets, a mount, vanity items, heirlooms, and replica armor for use in transmogrification
Lucifron, and his two Flamewaker Protector guards, can be found watching over the enormous core hound Magmadar, favored pet of Ragnaros.

  +
Sideshow Games
Attacks and Abilities
  +
The Darkmoon Faire contains several sideshow-inspired minigames. Each minigame costs one Darkmoon Game Token to play for a fixed amount of time. Each one also has has an associated repeatable quest which can be completed over the course of multiple play sessions. Completing each quest awards one Darkmoon Prize Ticket.

The Darkmoon Cannon
;Shadow Shock

  +
Located across from the Eastern Pavilion, the Blastenheimer 5000 Ultra Cannon, owned by Maxima Blastenheimer, launches guests through the air towards a target sitting in the waters near the boardwalk south of the faire grounds. Getting a bullseye earns 5 points, landing close to it earns 3 points, and getting near it earns 1 point.
:Instantly lashes nearby enemies with dark magic, inflicting Shadow damage.

:School: Shadow

:Radius: 20 yards

  +
Maxima even offers Quest:The Humanoid Cannonball.
Flamewaker Protectors
Approximately 90,000 HP.

  +
Ring Toss
*Cleave

  +
Located next to the Southern Pavilion, this game provides guests with 10 rings in which to toss onto the pole attached to Dubenko. Jessica Rogers runs the game, and even offers Quest:Target: Turtle.
:Inflicts normal damage to an enemy and its nearest allies, affecting up to 5 targets.

:School: Physical

  +
Shooting Gallery
*Dominate Mind

  +
Located next to the Western Pavilion, guests are given a pellet rifle to shoot the targets that light up. Players will have 60 seconds to earn 25 points, quick shots earn twice the points as a normal shot. Rinling runs the game, and even offers Quest:He Shoots, He Scores!.
:Takes control of a humanoid enemy for 15 sec.

:Dispel Type: Magic

:School: Shadow

*NOTE: It is believed that if you pull the Flamewakers from Line-of-Sight of Lucifron, there will be no mind-control. Blizzard likely designed the battle area with this in mind (notice the small dug cave in the back of the room).

  +
;Notes:
Strategies
  +
*You have to manually turn your body towards the target you want to shoot.
In most cases, raids will first dispatch the first Core Hound Pack to give some room for the pullers and the main tank. It is important when Lucifron is pulled that he not come near the main raid group or there could be an instantaneous wipe. His guards have the ability to mind control, so it is sometimes easier to have one or two dummies move ahead of the main tank to suck up the mind control. Additionally, no one can move near the tunnel to the west, or the imps and surgers inside could chain aggro and wipe the raid.

  +
*Quick shots are earned by shooting a target right after it lights up.

  +
Tonk Challenge
Generally, two hunters will use one of their insta-cast shots to pull the Flamewalker Protectors, while the Main Tank must run up, tag, and pull Lucifron in the opposite direction of his guards. Generally the back cove is where the guards are pulled, while Lucifron is taken to another alcove on the east, far from the main raid. Each of the guards must then be picked up by two offtanks and dispatched accordingly before Lucifron is targeted.

  +
Located next to the pastry tent, guests are given a steamtonk controller in which to pilot their tonks. Players will have 60 seconds to destroy 30 targets, while being attacked by enemy tonks and minizeps at the same time. Finlay Coolshot runs the game, and even offers Quest:Tonk Commander.

  +
Whack-a-Gnoll
Mages will not be contributing any large part of the DPS in this fight as they will be tied up with removing the curse that Lucifron casts on the raid every 15 seconds. Priests and Paladins will also be tied up dispelling the Impending Doom debuff from healers, and especially the main tanks, and whoever becomes mind controlled. The core DPS for this fight therefore falls upon the rogues, hunters, and warlocks.

  +
Located near the entrance, guests are given a mallet in which to whack some gnolls. Players will have 60 seconds to earn 30 points. The gnolls come in three types, normal, Hogger, and baby. Normal gnolls will give 1 point, Hogger gnolls give 3 points, and baby gnolls will knock players down. Mola runs the game, and even offers Quest:It's Hammer Time.

  +
Profession Quests
Once the two guards are defeated, all DPS will shift over to Lucifron. Usually around 20-25%, it is safe for some of the mages to begin casting their nukes, depending on their mana and how quickly they decurse the raid.

  +
The Darkmoon Faire offers a quest corresponding to each primary and secondary profession. These can only be completed once per monthly faire, and only by players who have the corresponding profession. Some quests can be completed at the faire. Some require ingredients imported from outside the faire. Completing each quest awards one Darkmoon Game Token, a few Darkmoon Prize Tickets, and 5 skill points in the associated profession!

  +
{| class="wikitable"
Lucifron's debuffs have a range of 40 yards. It is possible for every healer (except the MT-decurser), and properly spec'ed hunters to stay out of Lucifron's curse-range, so with a good group you can minimize every curse-wave to about 10 raid members (melees). This makes the fight much easier and allows the mages to do damage too. You can also choose to keep only necessary players within the radius (healers, decursers, dispellers, tanks), and hold back the DPS players out of the range until Luci's mana is depleted. It takes a few minutes, but it saves the trouble of nearly wiping when the entire raid is bing hit by the curses and magic effects. Its good to note that any ranged DPS that can attack at 41 yards through talents can exceed Luci's range and still DPS him down. They just have to be at their maximum range.

Darkmoon Faire TCG

Darkmoon Faire, in Elwynn Forest, from Trading Card Game.

The Darkmoon Faire is a large gathering of activities on the southern area of Darkmoon Island, brought together by Silas Darkmoon. The faire opens up on the first Sunday of the month and lasts for one week.

Prior to Patch 4.3.0, the Darkmoon Faire could be found at one of three locations: Outside Goldshire in Elwynn Forest, outside Thunder Bluff in Mulgore, and on the outskirts of Shattrath City in Outland's Terokkar Forest.

Refreshments

Darkmoon Faire desert booth

Aimee's pie, pasty, and cakes

There's three booths found at the faire for refreshments:

The Food Stand
Run by Stamp Thunderhorn, he offers decent food for hungry guests
The Drink Stand
Run by Sylannia, she offers the usual beverages for thirsty guests
The Desert Stand
Run by Aimee, which has traveled all the way from Dalaran in order to provided the best treats to the guests.

Unfortunately, the eating area and booths were built right next to the Tonk Challenge game, offering very little quiet while trying to enjoy your meal.

There is also a more questionable food wagon, just west of the faire in the nearby woods, that is run by Rona Greenteeth. She sells food that she has caught herself and made into dishes that may give customers pause.
