Eventually, Argus attracted the attention of [[Sargeras]]. The Destroyer offered the Eredar a deal: in exchange for their loyalty, he would give them power undreamed of by all races. Kil'jaeden and Archimonde were quick to accept the offer, but Velen had a vision of the future: the eredar would be transformed into demons, under the rule of Sargeras. His advice to Kil'jaeden and Archimonde went unheeded, and he desperately sought a solution to this dilemma. Eventually, Velen was contacted by the [[Naaru]], and he fled with his followers, renaming his people the Draenei, or Exiled Ones.

It is unclear whether the world of Argus was destroyed by the Eredar's sudden demonic powers (as implied by previous lore), or if it survived their transformation. If Argus still exists, it is certainly a stronghold of the [[Burning Legion]], possibly their headquarters. [[Rise of the Horde]] leans towards this interpretation, though nothing is explicitly stated.

Interestingly, the word "Argus" is also present in "StarCraft: Brood War", the expansion set of "[[Starcraft]]," another Blizzard strategy game. The Argus Talisman grants Dark Archons more energy, the Argus Jewel does the same for Dark Templer Corsairs and the Argus Stone exists on Aridas. The word Argus simply refers to silver, as in the [[Argus Wake]] or the [[Argent Dawn]]. None of these entities or groups are related to the world of Argus (although the Argus Wake is loyal to the Burning Legion). It is not known what the name implies in relation to Blizzard's universes.

The Focusing Iris

The Focusing Iris

The Focusing Iris is an orb found in the center of The Eye of Eternity and is used to summon Malygos.

Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects

Malygos had used his own blood to activate and control this orb, which had lain dormant for millennia. With the open Focusing Iris, Malygos had been able to direct powerful surge needles, using them to pull arcane magic from Azeroth's ley lines and channeling that magic into the Nexus.[1] The slain Arygos' blood was used by Aedelas Blackmoore to use a surge needle (with energies flowing from the Nexus) to animate Chromatus.[2]

The Demon Soul

Cataclysm This section concerns content related to Cataclysm.

As part of the Dragon Soul raid introduced in Patch 4.3, player will have to get the Focusing Iris so the Dragon Aspects can refocus their power into the Dragon Soul to use the Demon Soul artifact against Deathwing.[3]

Notes

It was previously mentioned that once harnessed, the energies are focused through the Nexus' ascending rings and blasted into the Twisting Nether.[4] In Thrall: Twilight of the Aspects, this function of the Nexus is not mentioned. It is implied that energies are stored there.
