Template:Server

Cenarion Circle US (RP) is named after the Cenarion Circle, a druid organization composed of Night Elves and Tauren. The realm opened with the launch of World of Warcraft on November 23rd, 2004 and is a Pacific time zone (UTC-8) realm. Like the other members of Battlegroup US Whirlwind, the servers for Cenarion Circle are physically located in Seattle, Washington, USA. (See US realm list by datacenter.)

General Information

Cenarion Circle is a RP server that went live upon World of Warcraft's release in November, 2004. It is one of the five RP servers and forty servers all told that went live upon the game's release; the other original RP servers are Argent Dawn, Earthen Ring, Feathermoon, and Silver Hand.

Community

Cenarion Circle has a huge population. It is not unheard of for there to be a queue to log into the server, especially during peak hours. During expansion launches, or certain large events (like the first few days of a seasonal event). Frequently during such times the server will become locked to new players, and often offers free realm transfers. Due to its age and size, many players have arrived because friends are on the server. As a result, the roleplaying atmosphere is very lax. Although roleplaying focused activity is easy to find, with several large guilds having roleplaying histories and helping to develop lore, many of the realm's players have little or no interest in roleplaying, and a vocal few are even hostile to the idea of roleplaying at all.

Also, a consequence of the size and lax rules, global channels, most notably capital city Trade, are often abused as catch-all places of discussion, most commonly looking for group and guild recruitment, but quite frequently for jokes, insults and name calling, and other off-topic behavior.

There are some benefits to the server's size, however. There are quite a few large guilds, although most of them focus on raiding and endgame PvE content, many are also large enough to support PvP, leveling and questing, and other activities. Some of the most prominent ones also help reinforce the roleplaying environment, using the forums to supplement ingame activity and help organize sweeping stories, ranging from world encompassing to extremely personal and contained.

Economy

The server economy is robust, with prices for high demand items tending toward the higher end, especially end level items. Demand for items of all level, is generally healthy, especially on the Alliance side.

Roleplaying

Since the beginning of the server's creation, the roleplaying community has largely evaporated, forming new communities on other roleplaying servers. This leaves something to be desired for most of the servers inhabitants, but the raiding scene has thrived in the absence of roleplay, and the server continues to progress competitively with PvP or PvE servers in endgame content. However, small pockets of Roleplaying activity can still be found, mostly in the form of guild led weekly events.
