[Arcane Brilliance] is a very long-lasting intellect buff that affects an entire party at once. The spell takes one reagent, [Arcane Powder], and costs quite a bit of mana to cast. The buff lasts 60 minutes, which is twice as long as the single-target equivalent [Arcane Intellect].
Rank | Mana Cost | Intellect | Level | Cost |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 1500 | 31 | 56 | Tome[1] |
2 | 1800 | 40 | 70 | Tome[2] |
- 1. Arcane Brilliance (Rank 1) is trained from [Tome of Arcane Brilliance], a drop from level 60 dungeons.
- 2. Arcane Brilliance (Rank 2) is trained from [Tome of Arcane Brilliance 2], a drop from level 70 dungeons.
Notes
The intellect buff granted is equivalent to the final ranks of [Arcane Intellect] with the only difference being duration and group-wide effect. Rank 1 grants the same intellect as Arcane Intellect (Rank 5) and Rank 2 grants the same buff as Arcane Intellect (Rank 6).

Group buffs are a mana- and time-efficient means to distribute buff spells. Usually group buffs have a longer duration than the spell that they distribute. They almost always require a reagent.
Distribution occurs as a group buff is cast on a target; characters that are "similar" to the target will also get the buff. Similarity depends on whether the spell is a party buff or a greater blessing.
Party buff
Party buffs follow these rules when cast:
- The spell target must be friendly, in line of sight, and in range of the caster.
- If the target is flagged PvP, the caster becomes flagged.
- The target gains the buff.
- Group buff splash - With some exceptions†, all characters in the target's party that are within his spell range, including pets, also gain the buff. This effect is not limited by line of sight. As a result, the caster can buff people at double the spell range.
† Characters will be excluded from the group buff splash if they are lower than the spell's trained level, or are flagged PvP when the caster is not. Exclusion by PvP status disrupts raid preparation; typically, the raid will wait for flags to expire, or order the buffing classes to become flagged themselves.
Greater blessing
Greater blessings from paladins define similarity as "same character class in a group (party or raid)". Their behavior is the same as party buffs - merely the recipients differ. They permit a paladin to provide all rogues with [Greater Blessing of Might], or all warlocks with [Greater Blessing of Salvation].
There is a minimum level for players to receive this buff. Rank 1 will only affect party members level 51 or above.
The reagent [Arcane Powder] stacks to 20 and can be purchased at any reagent vendor for 10 each.
Tips and Tactics
The mana cost is not a typo, this spell is rather expensive, mana-wise. The one hour duration, combined with the fact that you don't have to carefully stagger castings of [Arcane Intellect], makes this spell very worthwhile.
Intellect buffs are only useful to players that use mana (all but warriors and rogues). If a group has two or fewer mana users, consider using the single target [Arcane Intellect] to save mana and reagents by buffing only those that need it. However, the shorter buff will have to be refreshed more often.
