The Alterac Valley Trinket is acquired by capturing a banner in Alterac Valley as part of the Proving Grounds quest. Depending on your faction, it is called either Stormpike Insignia or Frostwolf Insignia. As a player gains reputation, their trinket can be upgraded, going from Uncommon to Rare, and finally Epic.

The trinkets give a variety of stat bonuses and equip effects, but all of them can be used every two minutes to return you to either Dun Baldar or Frostwolf Keep when in Alterac Valley, except for the Rank 6 trinket, which has no cooldown.

The trinket is obtained from a quest giver at each faction's base in the foothills of Alterac Mountains. The quest is available based on your faction standing, as follows:

  • Rank 1: Neutral
  • Rank 2: Template:Friendly
  • Rank 3: Template:Honored
  • Rank 4: Template:Revered
  • Rank 5: Template:Exalted
  • Rank 6: Full Template:Exalted (999 rep beyond exalted)

For the Horde, the quest giver is Warmaster Laggrond. For the Alliance, the quest giver is Lieutenant Haggerdin

For the Rank 1 quest, you must retrieve a banner from a cave in Alterac Valley. You must only turn in your old insignia to receive the new insignia for ranks 2-6, provided you have the required faction standing.
