In World of Warcraft, rank can mean a few things:

  1. The relative effectiveness or level of a spell compared to a spell of the same type.
For example, comparing two ranks of the Priest spell, Lesser Heal:
Lesser Heal, Rank 2: Heal your target for 71 to 85.
Lesser Heal, Rank 3: Heal your target for 135 to 157.

  1. Your position (also known as Ranking) in the military hierarchy of your faction. See the Honor System (pre-2.0) page for details.
Also see PvP Ranks at the Official WoW site.

  1. Your position and assigned privileges within a guild hierarchy.

In Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Rank is a title given to the player at the end of every mission depending on your Outcome and Score. The results screen will show your Outcome, Rank, Score, and other information.
